Nov 2025 HNB @ Hempstead Lake
Wow, Where did the year go….
Old Man Winter is Rearing his head and the fall weather is getting a bit cooler
hopefully we will have another mild winter. Regarding our 4-legged counterparts
need exercise and let be honest we somtimes need some beer.
Once again this time of year we go back to our first HNB 7 Years Ago, much has
changed since then, our Fouinding K9’s have since crossed over but we still carry-on
as they would want us to do. So as we usher in a new generation of K9’s and
share our experiances with new and old faces we still hike and share some local
brew afterward.
We hope you can join us for one of both of these events and thank all who Have
joined us in the past and welcome any who wish to join us in the future.

As always, and changes will be posted here, one note, that somerset moved to a bigger building
and mentioned that no more dogs insides, we havent verified this as of this wrting, but they said
still dog friendly outside. We will confirm this before the HNB

last HNB of 2025, thats crazy how fast the year goes…
Hopefully at this point Old Man Winter is being fairly nice to us we do go all year
rounbd despite the weather, we try not to cancel or postpone any hikes, unless
the weather and road condidtions are really bad.
For Our December Hike we are venturing to queens, still long island, its actually
a nice park, we do park in an offshoot parking lot, so please follow the link for

Afterward we will be visiting Lost Farmer Brewing, its a nice place and they have some good beers
the parking lot is a bit small, but there is steet parking available on the side streets, but generally
when we get there at 12 there is enuff parking 🙂

here are actual directions form our local resident and hike leader for this event
From the Northen State, Take Exit 23 towards the CROSS ISLAND PKWY / UNION
pass cross island north / south, get into the right lane and you will see a sign
thats says “Alley Pond Exit Only”, take that exit if you hit Union Blvd you went too Far.
NOTE, the link is an actual Dropped pin from the parking lot, but due to Road work
being done in the area, there are road closures for the normnal way into the lot

Jan 2026 HNB @ San Souci
Crazy Thats it another Year already, we still miss our last founding K9 (fritz)
but his crazy brother is coming along nicley, maybe this year we can get him
on the paddle board.
Our first hike of the new year will be at a local fav on our way out east.
San Souci County park, always a nice hike we go on the south side around by
the girl scout camp (across the lake), this is a nice 2 mile loop and depending on
the group size about an hour.
Afterward we will be visiting a local fav brewery, 1940’s always great beer,
friendly staff and great atmosphere. (they even have pizza and pretzels) and
generlly a food truck on saurdays.

Feb 2026 HNB @ Terrell River
Welcome to Our 2nd Hike of the New Year, By Now we Know what that furry little
varment has predicted for 2026, regardless of what hwe predicted we will still do
what we dop, Enjoy Hikes and brews with our pups.
This Month as we still head East we do a nice one, its a bit longer then normal
at about 2 1/2 Miles, but a nice pleasent walk down to the bay.
Afterward we wil be visting a local to the area fav brewery Moriches Fields,
always nice and pleasent atmosphere and great beer.

March 2026 @ Sears Bellows
At this point we hope the worst of our New York Winter is over and mostly done.
This Year has been a bit crazy with more snow then we had in Decades, but
that doesnt stop us, the dogs need exercise and stimulation (as well as the humans).
This Month we find ourwelves still out east in flanders at a nice park, that also
does camping in the warmer weather, there are some nice trails here ad its worth
a visit, its a bit buggy in the warmer weather, but this time of year it good.
As usual we will try to do about 2 Miles, or about an hour in length,
after ward we will be visiting Twin Forks Brewery in Riverhead (about 15 min away)

April 2026 HNB @ Brookhaven State Park
WOW, Really april already, crazy winter this year. Mother Nautre must have been mad at us
dropping al lthat snow on us, but we still love her :).
This Month baring any april showers we will still be hiking and Brewing and are still
on the last of our easterly hikes and will be visiting Brookhaven State Park.
Most of the Trails and fairly wide and flat, remember the ticks will problery be out
.. not quite and bad and in months following, but always good idea to check yourself
abd your dog afterward.
After the HIke which as the norm will be about 2 miles and about an hour in length
we will be visiting LONG ISLAND FARM Brewery.

Summer Time is avile and well in NEW YORK, this month we go to a not so
hike location, more of a dog get wet / wade / swim / play in the sand location.
depending on the tide you can walk all the way to pirate cove, but remember
that the north shore tends to be very rocky.
Speaking of Port Jeff Dog Beach, its a fairly nice location, but parking is a bit
of a pain, there is a small maybe 20 car free parking lot behind the yatch club
if you get there ealry you’ll problery get a spot, otherwise there is a failry large parking
lot close by in the town, just a 5 minute walk away, it’s a pay lot, but its not
expensive and you can use your smart phone to pay.

(Note, if your driving thoiugh the town the alt parking, is on the right behind the store,
so the last right before ferry will take you into the lot)

May 2026 HNB @ West Hills
Hello Summer, we’re waiting for you, hopfully not a crazy NY summer, Based on our
crazy winter and wet spring.
This Month we will be Visting a Local Fav … WEST HILLS, there are multiple locations to
hike here. One of our fav’s is across the street from the big dog park/run
(thats actually how its listed on google). afterward we will be visting THREES tap room
in huntington and possibly six harbor.
Note the parking area for the dog park is fairly large, we will meet by the
exit since we wil be hiking across the street.
The parking for the brewery is in a town lot across the strret form the
post office and a few second walk to brewery.
