Feb 2024 HNB @ Brookhaven State Park
Welcome to HNB Winter Hikes, where we try to do parks we
stay away from in the summer or buggy times.
This Month we will be exploring Brookhaven State Park,
this is a nice park with several trail options, as usual we
do try to keep our hikes around an hour, but these tails
are a bit longer and it close to 3 miles and prob 1:15+ minutes
or course if you don’t want to complete a loop you can always
turn around and follow the trail back to the parking lot.
afterward we will be visiting LONG ISLAND FARM Brewery,
which is just minutes away and always has great options
with beer, wine and other drink options.

HNB March 2024 @ Terrell River
March is Blowing in….
and our furry friends predicted a early spring – Yay
We starting out our of the last of our winter early spring hikes at
terrell river county park, its a nice place, not a lot of trails and its a bit
longer then our normal walks, its close to 2.5 miles round trip.
The trail goes down to the bay, where’s there’s a nice beach where the
dogs can swim, wade or otherwise cool off in the great south bay.
There is a turnaround at the 3/4 mile mark, plus you can always just turn
around and take the trail back.
We will place it by ear if we go the whole distance, afterward we will be visting
moriches field brewery, a short drive from the park.
the main parking lot is fairly small about a dozen cars, but there is a larger

HNB April 2024 @ Indian Island
Hello Spring (and goodbye Winter),
Hopefully With The Weather Warming and its still nice and cool enough for our furry friends
to still have fun without being too HOT (yes we are all too familiar with NY Summers)
This Month we will be doing a new location for us, we have scouted this and where there
are not a lot of trails, the ones there are pretty nice and it does down to the river on many
spots and there is a nice beach area, its a county park and they do start charging later in the
year, there is also camping available here.
Afterward we will be visiting Twin Fork Brewing Company, its a nice fairly large brewery
with a good outside area, they do have some food options and also have occasional food trucks
Riverhead has many good brewery’s and we may or may not visit more then one
or change the brewery based on their event changes happening after our initial schedule

We’re Hoping That April Showers are done and we’re into the May Flower Part of Spring

This Month We are returning to an old local favorite before embarking on our Hot
month Locations, it’s generally a 2 Mile-ish Hour Long Hike at San Souci in Sayville
afterward we will be visiting FREEDOM Brewing Co in Holbrook, merely Minutes from
the Park.

HNB June 2024 @ Gardiners County Park
June is here and we should be getting the summer weather, which in NY mean HHH
so with our dogs in mind we start going places they can swim.
We start out this series at Gardiners County Park in West Bay Shore, there a fairly short
trail that goes down to the Bay, and if you walk down the along the water a short way
there is a nice sandy area where the dog and or humans can take a dip and play
in the waters of the great south bay.
Afterward we will be visiting TAKE TWO Brewery in Bay Shore (across from the train station)
we hope you can join us for one or both if these events.
If you want or are able to get to the park early, there are dog runs and agility course you
can explore, any changes will be posted here and on our socials

July 2024 HNB @ The Bluffs
Welcome to Summer, By Now it’s Hot, Humid and More Hot, but Hey we still need
to Exercise the Pups and even us humans. But what we like to do with Summer in NY
is to take our pups top where they and swim, run and play, or even just wade in the water.
So this month we go to a favorite spot with a great area for the pups to swim,
Kings Park the Bluffs fits this to a T, a little bit of hiking, then we head down to the river
so the dogs can get wet, and even the humans too.
Afterward we will be visiting Harbor Head Brewing, in case of inclement weather we
might switch this up to Sand City Northport (they have more room indoors, where
harbor head is mostly outside.

HNB Aug 2024 @ Massapequa Preserve
Hmm.. August in New York, Still HHH, our poor pups generally not a fan of the heat
so we continue to do shorter walks with water features, looking forward to cooler weather
coming soon.
This month is a local fav, Massapequa Preserve (walker st. entrance) the fire trail
the walk in just under 1 mile each way, but we end in what the locals call the DOG BEACH
its a nice fairly wide area of the stream with a rock bed, so it fairly clean for dog wading
or swimming, it gets a few feet deep.
After ward we will be visiting another local favorite, Necromantic Brewing Co, for those
who crave Gluten Free Beer, then this is the place for you.
( it might be gluten free but its really good).

2024 Sept HNB @ West Hills
WOW, September Already, Summer is winding down and we our looking forward to
cooler weather. This Month we Our going to a local favorite Hiking spot,
West Hills has multiple areas and keep in mind There are hills here, its definitely
not the south shore.
As is the usual we try to keep the hike to about 2 miles and about 1 hour in length
the trails are a bit difficult in some spots so you might want to bring a hiking stick/pole .

Nov 2024 HNB @ Hempstead Lake
Wow, Fall is Gone and Old Man Winter is coming…..
But We Still like to Hike and share some brew with friends, family and most of all PACK.
This Month an old Favorite, this is actually one of the First Official HNB Walks we did
as a group, its a nice 2 mile-ish walk. It’s fairly flat and the north loop is generally
not too crowed (although it did get more popular since the put all the work into it
now more bicycle people show up on the trails.
